Moving Stories: Another technology first for FDN

The Furniture Delivery Network, the world’s largest dedicated Furniture Logistics provider has set another new first for the industry with a new fully automated ‘proof of delivery’ system or POD. While there is nothing new in the technology it is believed that this is the first time that a logistics (installation) company has adopted it for furniture deliveries and installations.

The need to introduce an automated system has become more critical as FDN’s home delivery service has boomed, making it more essential than ever that end users and manufacturers have positive proof of delivery.

“The POD system works very simply, “said Scott Dunn, FDN’s CEO. “When furniture is delivered, the operative takes a picture of the item delivered and updates the name of the person who signed for it and this image is automatically sent as an e-mail direct to the client – no need to logon to check delivery, it is there in your inbox within minutes of the delivery completing”

“It effectively means greater peace of mind with these kinds of deliveries and I am delighted that FDN has set yet another first for the furniture industry.”

The new technology is part of FDN’s continued drive to improve efficiencies in its entire distribution operation and complements existing stock control programmes to help streamline deliveries.
